Types of web apps we build
Arcesso builds web applications that run business processes, not marketing sites. The work usually starts where a spreadsheet, an inbox or an old system has become the bottleneck.
Each type below has a different risk profile. A customer portal needs strict access control and uptime. An internal tool needs fast data entry and an audit trail. A data-heavy dashboard needs careful query design so it stays fast as records grow. We plan for those needs during scoping, not after launch. If a no-code tool would do the job well enough, we say so before quoting a build.
- Customer and partner portals with secure sign-in
- Operations dashboards and reporting tools
- Internal admin, approval and workflow apps
- Booking, quoting and ordering systems
- Web front-ends for SaaS products and AI features
Our stack: Next.js, React, Node, Python and Postgres
Arcesso builds most web apps on Next.js and React, with Node or Python on the server and Postgres for data. We pick this stack because it is widely known, well supported and easy to hire for, which lowers your long-term risk.
Next.js gives server rendering for speed and search visibility. React keeps complex interfaces manageable. Node suits real-time features and API work, and Python suits data processing and AI workloads. Postgres handles relational data, search and vector storage in one database for most products.
We host on Vercel, Supabase or AWS depending on your compliance needs and budget. Everything is deployed with infrastructure as code into your accounts. If your team already runs a different stack, such as Django or .NET, we will discuss whether to match it or explain the trade-off in writing.
API development and integrations
API development at Arcesso means designing clean, documented interfaces that other systems and teams can rely on. Most web apps we build talk to at least three other systems, so integration work is often half the project.
We design REST or GraphQL APIs with versioning, rate limits, input validation and authentication from the start. Every endpoint gets automated tests and an OpenAPI or schema document your team can read. Webhooks are signed and retried, and failures are logged so nothing is lost silently.
Common integrations include Stripe for payments, Salesforce and HubSpot for CRM, QuickBooks and NetSuite for finance, Twilio for messaging, and identity providers such as Okta, Google and Microsoft for single sign-on. When a legacy system has no API, we plan a safe path during scoping, such as a database bridge or a scheduled sync.
What a web application costs
Web application cost is driven by the number of user roles, screens and integrations, plus data migration. A single-role internal tool costs far less than a multi-role customer portal tied to four outside systems.
For context, Clutch reports an average custom software project of $132,480 across reviewed agencies, with the most common budget band between $10,000 and $49,999. US agency rates on Clutch sit mostly between $50 and $99 per hour. Those are industry figures, not Arcesso prices.
Arcesso quotes a fixed price after a one- to two-week scoping sprint, and the scoping fee is credited in full to the build. Our custom software development cost guide at /resources/guides/custom-software-development-cost/ explains the main cost drivers in more detail, and the pricing page lists our engagement models.
Performance, accessibility and security by default
Arcesso treats speed, accessibility and security as acceptance criteria, not optional extras. Each one is checked in every sprint, so problems are caught while they are still quick to fix.
This site, arcesso.ai, is being built on the same Next.js stack and to the same targets, and we plan to publish its measured scores once it is live. Until then, the list below is our process, not a result we are claiming.
- Performance budgets for Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS), checked on every pull request
- WCAG 2.2 AA checks: keyboard navigation, contrast, labels and screen-reader testing on key flows
- OWASP Top 10 review, parameterized queries, secure headers and dependency scanning
- Server-side validation and authorization on every API route, never trusting the browser
- Monitoring, error tracking and uptime alerts on from launch day
Custom web app vs no-code builder
A no-code builder is faster for simple internal tools; a custom web app wins on control, scale and ownership. Arcesso recommends no-code when the app is small, internal and unlikely to grow, and says so before quoting.
Arcesso is not the right choice for a brochure website or a basic online store. A website builder or Shopify will serve you better for far less.
| Factor | Custom web app | No-code builder |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first version | 6 to 16 weeks | Days to a few weeks |
| Code ownership | You own the code and IP | Locked to the platform |
| Complex logic and integrations | No limits | Limited by plugins |
| Cost as users grow | Hosting cost only | Per-seat or usage fees rise |
| Security and compliance control | Full control | Depends on the vendor |

FAQ
Questions buyers ask us
How much does it cost to build a web application?
Web application cost depends on user roles, screens, integrations and data migration. Clutch reports an average custom software project of $132,480 across reviewed agencies, with most budgets between $10,000 and $49,999. Arcesso gives a fixed price after a one- to two-week scoping sprint, and the scoping fee is credited in full to the build.
How long does web app development take?
Most Arcesso web applications reach a first production release in 6 to 16 weeks. A simple internal tool can be faster, while a multi-role portal with several integrations sits at the upper end. Kickoff happens within 14 days of signing, and you see a working demo on a staging URL every week.
Why do you use Next.js and React?
Arcesso uses Next.js and React because they are fast, widely supported and easy to hire for. Server rendering in Next.js helps page speed and search visibility, and React keeps complex screens manageable. A common stack also lowers your risk: any competent team can maintain the app if you ever move the work in-house.
Can you build an API for our existing product?
Yes. Arcesso designs REST and GraphQL APIs with authentication, rate limits, input validation and versioning from the first endpoint. Each API ships with automated tests and readable documentation. We can add an API to an existing product, connect it to partners, or expose data safely to a mobile app or AI agent.
Will our web app be accessible and fast?
Arcesso checks every sprint against WCAG 2.2 AA and Core Web Vitals budgets for loading, responsiveness and layout stability. Problems are fixed before the sprint closes, not saved for the end. You get the check results at handover, so you can see the scores yourself rather than taking our word for it.
Do you work with our in-house developers?
Yes. Arcesso can build the whole app, or work alongside your developers in your repository with shared code review. Many teams use us for a first release and then take over. Your engineers can review every pull request, and the runbook and architecture notes are written so they can run the system without us.
Who hosts the web app after launch?
The web app runs in your own Vercel, Supabase or AWS accounts, not ours. Arcesso sets up hosting with infrastructure as code, so the setup is repeatable and documented. You pay the cloud provider directly, and you keep full access if you end the support retainer or move to another team.
